Richard L. Katz, MD
Dr. Richard L. Katz has been practicing orthopaedic surgery in the Capital District since 1991. A native of Montreal, Quebec, Dr. Katz received his undergraduate degree from Vanier College. His medical degree and orthopaedic residency are from McGill University. Dr. Katz completed a fellowship in Total Joint Anthroplasty at University Hospital in London, Ontario. He is fluent in French.
Dr. Katz's practice accepts all areas of Orthopaedics with his special interest in patients with joint disorders and joint replacement surgery. He also performs patella femoral replacements for relief of pain in the kneecap caused by arthritis and wear.
He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and sits on the Board of the New York State Society of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
Dr. Katz has been trained in a new procedure called the Birmingham Hip Resurfacing procedure. Hip Resurfacing is a type of hip replacement which replaces the two surfaces of the hip joint while conserving bone.
Dr. Katz is one of only a few orthopedic surgeons in Albany to offer patients with degenerative knee conditions a revolutionary, custom fit total knee replacement system called the "Signature Knee." Location(s)Albany
