Kyle Rudiger Flik, MD

A board-certified sports medicine surgeon, Kyle Flik, MD joined NEO in August 2005. He was named a partner in the practice in 2008. His specialty is the arthroscopic treatment of shoulder and knee problems as well as complex reconstructions and advanced cartilage restoration using minimally invasive techniques.Dr. Flik is subspecialty certified in Sports Medicine from the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, the only orthopaedic surgeon so certified in the Capital Region.

Dr. Flik grew up in Westchester County, NY. A graduate from Dartmouth College in 1991, he earned 8 varsity letters in ice hockey and lacrosse before going on to play professional ice hockey in Europe. Dr. Flik then received his MD from the University of Vermont's School of Medicine. After an internship in general surgery at Cornell University Medical Center, he completed his orthopaedic training at the Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan. Following this, Dr. Flik completed a sports medicine fellowship at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago.

While in Chicago, Dr. Flik served as an assistant to the Chicago White Sox (MLB), Chicago Bulls (NBA), and Chicago Rush (Arena Football League) team physicians. In addition, he was team physician for the Chicago Steel Hockey Team (Junior A) and Walter Payton Football team (Chicago Public Schools)

Dr. Flik is the author of several peer-reviewed journal manuscripts, orthopaedic textbook chapters, and technique papers discussing various topics related to sports medicine. Dr. Flik is a reviewer for The American Journal of Sports Medicine. He has provided on-court medical coverage for both the Albany Patroons basketball franchise and for the New York Buzz, part of the World Team Tennis League. He is currently team doctor for the Albany Legends, our local affiliate of the International Basketball League. He is also an an active member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America, the American Orthopaedic Society of Sports Medicine and the New England Shoulder and Elbow Society. Dr. Flik is the Chief of Orthopaedics of the Executive Woods Ambulatory Surgery Center.

Dr. Flik enjoys spending time with his wife and four children. He also likes to travel, run, ski, and play hockey, tennis, and golf.
