A board-certified sports medicine surgeon, Kyle Flik, MD joined NEO in August 2005. His specialty is the arthroscopic treatment of shoulder and knee problems as well as complex reconstructions and advanced cartilage restoration using minimally invasive techniques.
Dr. Flik grew up in Westchester County, NY. A graduate from Dartmouth College in 1991, he earned 8 varsity letters in ice hockey and lacrosse before going on to play professional ice hockey in Europe. Dr. Flik then received his MD from the University of Vermont’s School of Medicine. After an internship in general surgery at Cornell University Medical Center, he completed his orthopaedic training at the Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan. Following this, Dr. Flik completed a sports medicine fellowship at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago.
While in Chicago, Dr. Flik served as an assistant to the Chicago White Sox (MLB), Chicago Bulls (NBA), and Chicago Rush (Arena Football League) team physicians. In addition, he was team physician for the Chicago Steel Hockey Team (Junior A) and Walter Payton Football team (Chicago Public Schools)
Dr. Flik is the author of several peer-reviewed journal manuscripts, orthopaedic textbook chapters, and technique papers discussing various topics related to sports medicine. He provides on-court medical coverage for the Albany Patroons basketball franchise and is an active member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine.
Dr. Flik enjoys spending time with his wife and three children. He also likes to travel, run, ski, and play hockey, tennis, and golf.
