Dr. James Alfandre has practiced with Northeast Orthopaedics since 2001. He is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon with subspecialty training in sports medicine and foot and ankle surgery. Raised in Westchester County, Dr. Alfandre graduated from State University of New York (SUNY) at Albany in 1990. He earned his medical degree from SUNY Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse in 1994.
From Syracuse, Dr. Alfandre completed his internship and residency in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1999. He then spent a year at the Hughston Sports Medicine Foundation in Colombus, Georgia where he received subspecialty training in Sports Medicine. After that he went to the Emory University Hospital in Atlanta and completed his fellowship in Foot and Ankle Surgery.
While in Georgia, he served as Team Physician for the Columbus Cottonmouths Hockey Team (CHL), the Columbus Redstixx Baseball Club (Class A), Fort Valley State University, and the Columbus (GA) High School.
Dr. Alfandre practices in all areas of orthopaedics with special interest in Sports Medicine. He is an active member of the American Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the Arthroscopy Association of North America. He has specialized training in the use of arthroscopy to treat common disorders of the knee and shoulder.
Dr. Alfandre provides on-court medical coverage for the Albany Patroons basketball franchise. He is currently vice-president/secretary of the medical staff at the Executive Woods Ambulatory Surgery Center in Albany.
Dr. Alfandre sees patients in the Albany, Latham, and East Greenbush Offices. He is the Medical Director of the Executive Woods Ambulatory Surgery Center.
