Executive Woods Ambulatory Surgery Center (EWASC), located in Albany, New York, was established in 2000 by the orthopaedic surgeons of Northeast Orthopaedics. Licensed by the State of New York, EWASC has three modern operating rooms.
EWASC specializes in orthopaedic surgery, with a clinical staff dedicated to the needs of the orthopaedic patient. Our state of the art equipment is located in a facility designed with both the patient and family in mind.
Examples of procedures performed at EWASC include:
- Arthroscopic surgery of the knee, shoulder, ankle, and wrist
- ACL reconstruction
-
Surgery of the hand and forearm including carpal tunnel surgery

Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASC), like EWASC, are facilities where surgeries that do not require long-term hospital admission are performed. They provide a cost effective and convenient environment that is less stressful than what many hospitals can offer.
Patients who elect to have surgery in an ASC arrive on the day of the procedure, have the surgery in an operating room and recover under the care of the nursing staff, all without hospital admission. From pediatric to elderly, both the patient and their families benefit from the comfortable environment of the ASC, by minimal separations from each other, as well as extensive pre- and post-operative teaching.
ASC’s are not the same thing as rural health clinics, urgent care centers, or any other ambulatory care centers that provide diagnostic or primary health care. ASC’s treat only patients who have already seen a health care provider and selected surgery as an appropriate treatment. Physicians’ offices are not ASC’s.

EWASC accepts the following insurance plans:
Medicare
Worker's Compensation
No Fault
CDPHP
MVP
GHI
Blue Shield of Northeastern New York
Empire Plan
Empire Blue Cross
