Our Professional Staff
Dorothy Mueller, RPA
A native of Carlisle, NY, Dottie Mueller graduated from SUNY Albany with a BS in
Biology in 1977. She went on to graduate from the Albany-Hudson Valley PA program
in 1982, and received her NCCPA certification in 1982.
Prior to joining Northeast Orthopaedics in 1998, she worked as a surgical PA at Albany
Memorial Hospital for 15 years assisting with orthopaedic procedures as well as with a
variety of other surgical subspecialty procedures. When not assisting in the OR, Dottie may be found helping out in various capacities in the office setting.
Outside of work, Dottie enjoys traveling, gardening, and raising a small flock of sheep. She and husband Gus have 2 grown children.
Jeannine Rother, RPA
Jeannine Rother is a native of Cairo, NY. She received her Bachelor's Degree from University of Tampa and she received her Master of Science degree in Physician Assistant studies from Albany Medical College in 2003,. Jeannine began her career working in Cardio-thoracic surgery.
Jeannine is board certified by the NCCPA. She has been employed by Northeast Orthopaedics since March 2009 and works both in the operating room and office in conjunction with Dr. David Dixon, a foot and ankle specialist.
Jeannine is currently serving as a Captain in the Air National Guard. She started her career in 1990 with the United States Navy and has served in the U.S. and abroad for the past 20 years.
Jeannine's non professional interests include running, reading, traveling and spending time with her family.

Maureen Strichman, ANP
Maureen Strichman received her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from State University of New York College at Brockport in 1982. She then went on to achieve both her Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Nursing at Russell Sage College in Troy, New York in 1995 and 2000. Maureen is board certified as a Geriatric Nurse Practitioner by the ANCC and has a Post Master's Degree as an Adult Nurse Practitioner.
Maureen has worked in orthopedics for the past fifteen years specializing in total hip and knee replacements. In addition to seeing patients in the office setting, She also teaches educational seminars to patients who are about to undergo total hip or knee replacement surgery.
She enjoys spending time with her family sailing on their boat in the summer and skiing in the winter.
Leann Thrane, RPA
Leann Thrane is a certified Physician Assistant who has been employed by Northeast Orthopaedics since December of 2007 and works both in the operating room and in the office with Dr. John T. Whalen who specializes in spine.
Leann is from the Capital Region. She received her Bachelors Degree in Biology from Russell Sage College in Troy, NY and attended Springfield College in Massachusetts where she received her Certification in Physician Assistant studies in 2004. She has been NCCPA board certified since 2005. She has also worked in urogynecology assisting both surgically and in the office.
Her non-professional interests include traveling, golfing, reading, shopping, and spending time with her family & friends.
Stephen Valenti, RPA
Stephen Valenti RPA-C is a certified Physician Assistant who works directly with David Abraham MD, assisting is surgery, as well as seeing and caring for patients in office. Steve joined NEO with substantial orthopedic experience in the Capital Region. His previous experience in orthopedics included working with a board certified hand surgeon and also assisting other surgeons in joint replacement with and without computer assistance.
Steve received his degree from Albany Medical College/Hudson Valley in 1999. Previous to his present career he was a certified Athletic Trainer for 17 years working in the area of sports injury and prevention.
Outside of work Steve enjoys rowing on the Mohawk River several evenings per week with a Master crew team, hiking the Adirondacks, cycling, and kayaking local lakes and rivers.
